Sometimes this placement can be frustrating or challenging as I would like to call it. you must find things to help improve their situation, whether that painting a wall, bringing food to the sick, and strategizing ways they can make money, every input helps and they are appreciative for them. But don’t just sit around and wait for someone else to do it because they most likely won’t, you must make the initiative.
WOFATA is a difficult placement that calls volunteers who are creative, patient, and comfortable with leadership and self-initiative. It is important to keep in mind the situation of all the women and why organizational processes might move at a much slower pace. Volunteers with a business background are desperately needed here. If you do not have any business experience, there are still ways to help and you must not get bogged down by their single-minded focus on money. There are other ways to help improve their quality of life such as suggesting ways for them to pass their time, play with their kids, exercise, and join the community. Encourage the women to stretch!
You must be the change in order to see a change!
